Five young Elders from the Latter Day Saints pitched in, to make Oct. 18 a very successful day along Cub Run! They were Austin Tesch, Carson Gemar, Chester Alba, Li-Kuan Ni, and Justin Rousor. PHTA volunteers were Glenn Gillis, my wife Karen Jones, and me. We accomplished extensive side-hilling with pick-axes (to make the treadway level, lopping, sawing, blazing (blue), and installation of a 12-foot bridge.  Come check it out--it links the Bull Run Regional Park Event Center road (where it crosses Cub Run) to Compton Road's bridge over Cub Run. Length 1 mile....

UPDATE 10/3/14:  The Bles Park worktrip is moved to Dec.6, 9am; a new worktrip at Piscataway Park is scheduled for Nov. 15. We will hold at least three worktrips this fall, in cooperation with other volunteer groups.  On Oct.18, we will continue constructing a new mile-long trail along Cub Run in Bull Run Regional Park, Centreville, VA.  On Nov. 15, we will maintain/extend the PHNST at North Piscataway Park, Ft. Washington MD.  On Dec. 6, we will permanently re-open 0.7 miles of Potomac Heritage Trail at Bles Park in Ashburn, VA.   Oct 18:  Meet at Bull Run Regional Park, 9am-noon. Trail Work- Bull Run Regional Park 9AM-noon or later Help finish a new section of the rapidly evolving West Fairfax Trail along Cub Run at Bull Run Regional Park in Fairfax County, Va. Working with volunteers from the Potomac Heritage Trail Association, we will complete a new section of trail, construct small bridges, and install trail signs along this scenic route adjacent to Cub Run. When completed, the new West Fairfax Trail will stretch for over 26 miles, and provide a critical link in an expanding  Fairfax County greenway that will eventually stretch for over 80 miles by connecting the Cross County, Bull Run-Occoquan, and West Fairfax trails.
