Fairfax County's larger parks have well-known scenic loop trails, but other such loops are "hidden gems". In a series of photo albums we'll post some of our favorites.

A crew from the Graham County Land Company of Robbinsville, NC (photo), has begun repairs to a section of the CCT and Potomac Heritage Trail in Great Falls Park. The worst section (see photo) was washed out over several storms and has been virtually impassable since 2011. Repairs will also restore about 900 feet of damaged trail.
Congrats to Don Briggs of NPS and Brent O'Neill of Great Falls Park for securing funding to fill in this missing link.
The trail repairs should be finished in early December.
Five young Elders from the Latter Day Saints pitched in, to make Oct. 18 a very successful day along Cub Run! They were Austin Tesch, Carson Gemar, Chester Alba, Li-Kuan Ni, and Justin Rousor. PHTA volunteers were Glenn Gillis, my wife Karen Jones, and me. We accomplished extensive side-hilling with pick-axes (to make the treadway level, lopping, sawing, blazing (blue), and installation of a 12-foot bridge.
Come check it out--it links the Bull Run Regional Park Event Center road (where it crosses Cub Run) to Compton Road's bridge over Cub Run. Length 1 mile....
